SDI Online Open Water Scuba Course.  Course includes classroom portion (online), pools sessions and open water check out dives. 

The Open Water Scuba Diver Course is the entry level course for scuba diving.

Who Can Learn to Scuba Dive?

Anyone, including children as young as twelve up to senior adults, who are comfortable and relaxed in the water can learn to scuba dive.  The only specific requirements are to be able to swim 200 yards (no time limit, any stroke) and to be able to tread water or float in water too deep to stand for ten minutes.
Most people would be surprised to learn that there are levels of qualification for all ages and physical abilities. Children ages 12 to 14 can qualify for Junior certification, which requires they dive with an adult until age 15.
Even for those concerned with the effect of certain health problems, as long as you are in good cardiovascular and respiratory health, and not on any drugs that might cause complications under water, getting a physician’s approval to dive is generally easy. If you can honestly answer No to all of the questions on the standard Medical History form, you won’t even have to get your doctor’s okay.

Florida Springs Weekend Trip

 November 12th - 14th

(This is a great opportunity for OW check-out dives and Adv. Class)

 

Schedule: (please note that all times except Lexington Departure, are due to change)

All times are LOCAL times.

Nov. 12

     3:00 PM    -    Leave the dive shop on a rental mini-bus en-route to Bonifay, FL.

    11:30 PM    -    Arrive at hotel (probably the Quality Inn) at about 11:30 pm.

Nov. 13

      8:00 AM    -    Leave hotel en-route to Vortex Spring in Ponce de Leon, FL

      9:00 AM    -    Arrive at Vortex for a full day of diving (For OW and Adv. Students, 2 - check-out dives each) Adv. Divers may make more dives, if desired. For anyone who is not an OW Student, this day provides 3 - 1 tank daytime dives, and up to 2 - 1 tank night dives.

    11:00 PM    -    Park Closes. Return to hotel in Bonifay, FL. We'll run the shuttle back earlier upon general consensus.

Nov. 14

      8:00 AM    -    Leave hotel en-route to Vortex Spring in Ponce de Leon, FL (all divers must check out of hotel prior to  boarding the bus)

      9:00 AM    -    Arrive at Vortex for a full day of diving (For OW and Adv. Students, 2 - check-out dives each) All Divers may make more dives, if desired, and time allows.

      3:00 PM    -    Bus leaves en-route to Lexington, SC

  

The BUS should arrive back in Lexington, at Lexington Scuba, around 11:30 PM on Sunday, November 14^th.  

 

 

All attendees will be responsible for purchasing ALL of their own meals. Shuttle bus will provide limited transportation to restaurant while at the hotel, on Saturday night.  Saturday, lunch will be at either Sally's Restaurant or 4 C Bar-BQ in Ponce de Leon, as will Lunch on Sunday. Of course, anyone can bring their lunch, as an Ice Chest will be provided. Also, the dive shop at Vortex Spring has drinks and snacks available for purchase.

 

All attendees may want to bring a pillow, and dress appropriately for the bus trip to and from Florida. Remember, however, space on the bus is limited, so pack as lightly as possible.

 

Rental gear will also be available (at diver's expense) at the Vortex Spring Dive Shop, please see their website at http://www.vortexspring.com for pricing.

 

Non-divers will be allowed on this trip, at a discount of $20.00 off the Inclusive Fee.

 

We only have 6 more spots reserved for this trip, so SIGN UP SOON! If we have more than the available spots sign up for this trip, the remaining people will have to provide their own transportation to and from ALL venues.

 

All rental gear, provided by Lexington Scuba, LLC needs to be picked up on Friday Nov. 12, before 7:00 PM, and is due back on Sunday night, upon arrival to the shop.

 

Below, is a list of what Lexington Scuba will be providing for this trip :

1)    Full round-trip transportation to the hotel and Vortex Spring via a Mini-bus.

2)    2 day Admission to Vortex Spring

3)    Air Tank refill tickets (up to 5 on Sat. and 4 on Sunday)

4)    Hotel Lodging (double occupancy)

 

Lodging:

Friday and Saturday night lodging will be at the Best Western Classic Inn and Suites, in Bonifay, FL. Check-out will be on Sunday Morning, prior to leaving for Vortex Spring. All rooms are based on DOUBLE OCCUPANCY. Please let us know who your Room-Mate will be, prior to leaving on this trip, or, we'll let you know who it will be at check-in.
